Potato & Green Bean Stew with Green Split Peas


  • 1 brown onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small sweet potato (approximately 400g), cut into small cubes
  • 1 medium yellow potato, cut into small cubes
  • 2 cups sliced green beans, ends trimmed (fresh or frozen)
  • ¾ cup green split peas, rinsed
  • 3 ½ – 4 cups boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2-3 teaspoons of PICKLD Spicy Fenugreek Soup Seasoning per serve
  • Salt & pepper to taste

    How To Cook :

    Step 1

    Heat the oil in a large saucepan and add the onion. Sauté for 4 minutes.

    Step 2

    Add the garlic and sauté for another minute.

    Step 3

    Add the sweet potato, yellow potato, green beans, green split peas, water and season with salt and pepper. Bring the soup to the boil then reduce and cover with a lid for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Step 4

    Add more water to reach the desired consistency and remove from the heat once the vegetables and split peas have cooked through. Season to taste.

    Step 5

    Recommendation: Stir through 2-3 teaspoons of the PICKLD Spicy Fenugreek Seasoning to each serve of soup. Consume on its own or with rice
